North Lanarkshire Update
I wrote about the pension entitlements of senior officials in North Lanarkshire Council the other day and explained why I think that final salary pension schemes operate like 'Robin Hood in Reverse'.
But there were some figures in the Council's annual accounts which I didn't quite understand such as:
- Does the chief executive's salary of £149,524 include a performance bonus?
- If so, how much was the performance bonus and how can any bonus be justified given the Council's 'performance' over equal pay?
- Why does the CEO's salary package jump from £149,524 in 2013/14 to £172,699 in 2014/15 - an increase of £23,175 or 15.5%?
- Does the figure of £172,699 include a performance bonus and if this is the case, how can any bonus be justified in the context of equal pay?
