North Lanarkshire Update

I get emails on a daily basis asking the equivalent of "Are we there yet?" in relation to North Lanarkshire Council and equal pay.

Now if we were 'there yet", I would obviously say so on the blog site, but as things stand the ball is firmly in the Council's court and a meeting is taking place later this week, on Thursday 12 March apparently, to endorse a comprehensive settlement of all outstanding equal pay claims.

So until the Council signs on the dotted line there is no final agreement although as I've said before I don't expect any problems at this late stage because that would just result in all of the cases would just going back to the Employment Tribunals.

As soon as there is a final agreement I will say something on the blog site and there will also be a joint statement made to the news media on behalf of all the parties: Action 4 Equality Scotland, Fox and Partners Solicitors, the trade unions and North Lanarkshire Council.

Detailed letters of explanation will follow which is a really big job since A4ES alone has over 3,000 NLC clients.
