Silly Abuse

Peter Brookes cartoon
The secret of a good cartoon is that while it exaggerates a person or situation to the point of caricature, there's just enough 'truth' in the portrayal to make it believable.

Peter Brookes in The Times gets that balance right better than most, but in my view he falls far short of his normal standard with this rather silly and unfunny intervention in the Scottish independence debate.

Is Scotland's First Minister, supposed to be a violent jihadist?

Because not even Alex Salmond's worst enemy would make such a ridiculous claim and this lowers kind of nonsense really just amounts to personal abuse rather than serious political comment with a humorous cutting edge.
